Peruvian - El Palto
Our certified organic El Palto coffee proved so popular when we tried a guest bean, that it has since never left the hopper when ordering in house at Emilio’s. It has a classic chocolatey flavor profile with notes of rich caramel and hazelnut.
It is our most versatile coffee and works beautifully in everything from a traditional espresso machine to a bean to cup machine, and even filter.
ABOUT THE COFFEE
The Asociacion de Productores Cafetaleros Juan Marco - "El Palto" in short, was founded in 2003 by Jose Carranza Barboza and 35 other smallholder farmers. Today, all 188 members produce certified organic coffee. Across Peru, the coffee harvest is a family effort. Most smallholder producers use a household-based model of production. The families pitch together to contribute the work needed. From pruning to fertilising, to selectively hand-picking the coffee, the process involves the entire family for a successful coffee harvest.
